CANADIANWATERFALLS.CA

A Canadian-born
waterfall directory.

A field guide for discovering the country through its moving water. Original writing, traceable sources, and a clear distinction between a known location and a place ready to visit.

What this edition includes

39 individually written visitor guides, 8 credited photographs and 1,812 official falls-name records covering 12 provinces and territories. All 13 provincial and territorial directory pages are available. Prince Edward Island returned no records in this source query.

This is a national starting inventory, not a claim to contain every waterfall in Canada. Unnamed, locally named, seasonal, unrecorded and differently classified features may be absent. Multiple names can describe one physical waterfall. Some named features may have been altered by dams or other development.

How the directory was researched

Location records come from Natural Resources Canada’s Canadian Geographical Names Database. The query selected official names (category O), feature class FALL, sorted by name, and retrieved pages until fewer than 1,000 records remained. This edition retrieved 1,812 unique record IDs. We preserve the source’s names and coordinates; we do not convert record counts into a claim about unique physical falls.

Visitor guides and editorial judgment

Each visitor guide is original editorial writing based on linked park, land-manager or tourism sources. “Our take” is an interpretation of that research, not a firsthand visit, customer rating or guarantee. Figures are attributed where useful, and uncertain measurements are omitted. Location-only profiles deliberately do not invent visitor information.

The editorial collection is not complete for all inventory entries. Research still needed includes local access and ownership, official trailheads, height definitions, trail distances, facilities, mobility access, seasonal flow and licensed photographs. Where exact coordinates have not been matched, Google Maps links search for the named place and are labelled accordingly.

Travel information

Check the operator’s live information before departure. Do not enter closed trails or cross barriers; water levels, erosion, rockfall, ice and slippery surfaces change quickly. Map pins are geographical points, not safe routes. Respect private land, Indigenous access protocols and archaeological sites. No swimming or cliff-jumping suitability is implied by a directory entry.

Photograph credits

Only photographs identified as the actual place are used. Card crops may differ from the full photograph. No generated landscape is represented as documentary photography.
