Yoho National Park · Short walk

Takakkaw Falls

Takakkaw brings a huge mountain waterfall within reach of a relatively short valley walk. The contrast between the small paved path and the immense rock wall is the heart of the experience.

Planning your visit

Parks Canada lists a flat, paved approach of 0.9 km each way from the parking area at the end of Yoho Valley Road. Stay off the rocks. The road has tight switchbacks and does not permit trailers; longer vehicles need special manoeuvres. Check current road access before leaving Field.

Our take

Well suited to visitors who want mountain scenery without committing to a backcountry route. Plan around the seasonal road rather than assuming a year-round roadside stop.
