Náįlįcho / Virginia Falls

Náįlįcho is one of the defining landscapes of Nahʔą Dehé: the South Nahanni River surges over a huge drop within a protected wilderness of mountains, plateaus and deep canyons. The Dehcho First Nations’ connection to this land is central to understanding the place.

Planning your visit

Plan through Parks Canada and a suitable transport or expedition provider. There is limited camping at the falls, with a maximum two-night stay to reduce congestion around the steep, narrow portage. Confirm registration, aircraft arrangements and current infrastructure notices well ahead.

Our take

A journey-scale waterfall, not a day-use road stop. The right experience depends on whether you are planning a flight visit or a river expedition.
