Athabasca Falls

Athabasca Falls gets its force from the river, not exceptional height. Parks Canada describes a 23-metre drop carrying enough water to rank among the mountain parks’ most powerful falls. The gorge makes the concentrated flow especially striking.

Planning your visit

Use the designated viewing areas and respect barriers throughout the canyon. Jasper’s post-wildfire reopening information is a separate planning step from choosing the waterfall. Check that page close to your visit and allow flexibility if paths or facilities change.

Our take

A compelling Icefields Parkway stop for visitors interested in the power and shape of a river. This is a viewing experience, not a place to approach the brink for a photograph.
